As we grow as a conscious brand, we wanted those from all walks of life to be able to enjoy our shoes without sacrificing style and expression. Our primary goal is to be eco-friendly and to use materials that are responsible, and to ensure our operations and working processes will leave as less waste as possible (not perfect yet, so still working hard on it!).
But this does not mean we are not conscious about our furry friends. Thankfully, with today’s technology, there are more and more innovative alternatives to virgin leather that can be applied to footwear. So we no longer have the excuse of saying “there are no ‘good fake leather’ so therefore we have no choice”. Yes — the cost of these new ‘leather’ is always the challenging part. Yet we are proud to say we have found creative ways and good partners, which made it possible for us to slowly and steadily phase out virgin leather from our collections.
This not only helped us to reduce carbon footprint but to welcome more likeminded people who want to make more responsible choices that are friendly to both animals and planet. For any instances we cannot find the best type of leather alternative, we are working with Leather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries — a non-profit aimed to promote sustainable business practices through low energy & water usage, waste management, and the elimination of restricted substances.
We are proud of all the steps taken towards sustainability and consciousness! Here are some key highlights we want to point out for our vegan low top sneakers, pumps, and high top sneakers.
We do recognize there are still rooms for improvements in all our styles when it comes to their materials. Despite these challenges, iRi team is still optimistic this is not impossible. So stay tuned!
